Recent bad weather
During the Christmas and New Year break we got hit with some pretty poor weather in Scotland.
When the weather had calmed down a bit I took out the cameras, quite a few of them film and shot a few rolls.
This collection were taken with a Holga and 120 film, Velvia 50 on a 35mm camera, my IR camera and one at the end with a PinHole camera.
Strathclyde Park walk
I was out the other morning (too early for a Sunday) to go for a short walk down Strathclyde Park.
The light was lovely and so I decided to take the Holga out again.
It was only about a mile or so down beside the Golf Course, but it was really nice that time of the morning with leaves falling – I was actually dissapointed I didn’t have my big camera with me.
Holga-tastic
I have a wedding in a new location next year – Cornhill House. So with the nice weather, I packed the camera and a few toys and went for a lookabout.
Unfortunately, there was a wedding in progress and I wouldn’t upset any other photographer by walking around with my SLR (or even just walking around) so I kept myself to the front and decided to try an old toy – the Holga.
I should explain what a Holga is. It’s a cheap toy camera, made of plastic from China. It lets in light, has a very poor f/8 lens, has no way of controlling the exposure – in short, I call it my “point n pray” camera.
Anyways, decided to take that up, with a single roll of film. Not really with the intention of making anything nice, but just for fun.
Below is one of the frames, scanned (albeit badly.) It’s overexposed. It’s soft. You can count the grain on the film. But you know what, I can see the attraction. It’s different. It’s not obsessed with pixel perfect sharpness. I like it.
Comments are more than welcome.
